Piccalilli Newsletter - Issue #35

Welcome permalink

Ciao 👋

Hopefully this week’s issue will provide a much needed distraction for you.

It’s really important to look after your mental wellbeing, so grab a cup of tea, sit back and let yourself enjoy this issue, packed with beautiful work.

Fancy permalink

Stacked rainbow cards

A stack of rainbow cards that have a neon look about them

Sarah checking in again with this lovely work. I’m obsessed with the colours.

Make sure you hover it!

Stretch Typo

⚠️ Motion Warning ⚠️

Stretchy text that’s all sparkly and pink

This, by Ilithya is as smooth as butter. The aesthetic is on point, too.

Making it editable was chef’s kiss.

Fun permalink

Homer Simpson with GSAP

⚠️ Motion Warning ⚠️

Homer Simpson on a blue background

This is really smart work, by Kasper. I love the attention to detail with Homer’s expressions.

Dress David Rose

David Rose on the left with various tshirts on the right

As you all know, I am a Lynn super fan. I wish I could deliver side-projects to even half of the standard that they do.

This one is no exception. It’s such stunning work.

CodePen Home Super Mario Bros. 3 CSS Animation

⚠️ Motion Warning ⚠️

Mario in Fox Suit mode

Some nostalgia here, by Stephen. I’m suddenly a kid, playing on the SNES again!

Nice sites permalink

Ethan Marcotte’s Personal Site

Ethan’s homepage with a lovely grid layout

Ethan gave the web so much and with their fresh personal site, they’re demonstrating how to use CSS Grid to create the sort of layout we could only dream of a few years ago.

Vincent - App landing page

Vincent homepage with hipster drawn character and a really nice textured iOS phone with screenshots of the app

This really does make my eyes smile. It’s such a great looking landing page that admittedly follows some of the standard landing page™ conventions, but has a truly unique branding and look and feel.

That’s all, folks permalink

I just want to say that we all need to look after each other during these times. I’m trying to do a bit with this newsletter and I hope it’s bringing you a bit of joy. I’ll also do more content stuff to try and provide some distractions.

I’ve also created a Piccalilli Community which I hope will be a nice place for us to hang out and chat about the web. With that, I created a Discord server for folks to hang out. Lots of people are suddenly working from home, so I hope this group will help reduce some of the isolation.

Until the next issue, take it easy.
